Learning From The Past In Recovery

We have all heard it many times; learn from your past mistakes. But when substance abuse or addiction is involved it often seems like a bad movie repeated over and over again. Each time some one with alcoholism begins to drink again, or some one with drug addiction begins to use again, the memory of the last bad episode fails to come to mind. At least not with enough emotional force to prevent the 1st drink/first whatever. For many years the reason for this was a mystery. But thanks to research based on medical advances we now know why this happens and their are ways to prevent it. Undergoing alcohol rehab or drug rehab that takes advantage of this research can save lives and restore futures.
